A White Wedding

This wedding in Chicago is one that sits close to my heart. I became friends with the bride when I was in 8th. grade back in Guatemala, and although we were only friends for about 4 months before I moved to the states, we somehow kept our friendship in a time-capsule for when we had the chance to reunite. Long story short, I didn’t see my friend for about 12 years before I was able to meet with her in Chicago, IL. Meeting for a hot-dog brought back so many childhood memories and it was great to see that neither of us had really changed much. Needless to say that we kept in touch through Social Media (Thanks Facebook), which allowed me to witness how blessed she was with her family and new best friend Marcos, whom she later got engaged to.

My heart was happy for my friend Andrea A.K.A Osito (childhood nickname), and I couldn’t have been more honored that she would trust me with her wedding photos and wedding invitations.

As part of preparing for the wedding, I visited the venue the day before and did a walk around the building. It was beautiful inside and out. There was a lake, a gazebo, little hills in the background, and a warm barn, beautiful place! But Andrea wanted a white wedding, and God knowing the wishes of her heart more than anyone, decided to grace us with 6 inches of snow, and it was a perfect white wedding! The first snow of the season.

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37: 4

Yes, I was excited and partly freaking out but I was prepared. In the end I realized that the snow worked to my advantage as a big light reflector and it made for some whimsical scenes. Every wedding has it’s own personality, and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the opportunity to work with such a fun and enthusiastic bridal party.

I couldn’t have done it without my sister Laura who not only did the bride’s hair & make-up but served as my assistant photographer and exceeded all my expectations.

Enjoy a collection of some of my favorite moments! Please feel free to contact me for any tips, feedback, mentoring opportunities, or photography services, I’m here to help!
